Registration for 2023 entry to the BA (Hons) in Professional Dance and Musical Theatre is still open.
Applications will remain open until all audition slots are full. However, we recommend you complete your Urdang and UCAS applications as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
Applying to Urdang is different to other undergraduate courses so please read and follow the steps below carefully. They explain the application and audition process as well as how UCAS fits in. There is no fee to audition at Urdang.
Please note that Urdang no longer offers Foundation or other access courses. The usual route is via a Level 3 academic qualification. Most students will be over 18 when they commence the course, but we may consider those who will be 17 if they have completed appropriate academic study, such as Scottish Highers or an IB.
We strongly recommend you get the application to us for an audition submitted as soon as possible. We cannot guarantee an audition for those who apply after the UCAS deadline passes on 25th January 2023.

From late September you can start your application. You will be emailed an activation link, so do check your spam and junk folders for this.
Once registered you will be able to complete the online application form with your personal details and upload the requested headshot. This does not have to be a professional photograph.

UK-based applicants (inc non-UK/ROI passport holders) audition in-person and are invited via email what to wear and prepare in advance.
You will be asked to take part in a dance class with ballet and jazz elements and to perform at least one song and one acting monologue of your choice.
International-based applicants can choose to follow the email instructions and attend in-person OR submit a video audition.
Once you have completed stages 1&2 email urdang.admissions@city.ac.uk to inform us you wish to submit a video audition.
Please ensure you are recording in a safe, well-lit environment.
Record the following in this order.
Tell us why you are applying to Urdang.
Record 2 full songs of your choice (any style or genre, but they should be contrasting for example; up-tempo and ballad).
1 monologue from a stage-play of your choice (1-2 minutes, any style or genre).
Upload to a shared (not public) YouTube account OR via WeTransfer.
Email the link to: urdang.admissions@city.ac.uk by your audition date. If you need more time, please ask.
We will aim to get a result to you within 14 days.
You will also need to have made an application via UCAS for any potential offer to processed. All offers are conditional on high-school academic and English language qualifications.

Confirm you will attend your audition by logging into the Urdang site. We cannot process your application without this. You can also select an alternative date here if required.
Attend your audition on the confirmed date. The day usually lasts from 8:30am to around 6.00pm. You must arrive on time at our Old Finsbury Town Hall building.
If successful you may be offered a place on our degree OR invited to a recall audition. If you are invited to recall audition please login to confirm your recall audition date.
Urdang will confirm by email within 14 days whether your audition was successful or unsuccessful. Unfortunately, we are unable to give feedback.

Your application for entry in September 2023 should arrive at UCAS between September 2022 and 25th January 2023.
Applications that arrive after 25th January 2023 will be considered only at City’s discretion.
Once you have made your UCAS application, offer-holders will also receive an official offer letter from City, University of London with the academic conditions of your offer via email and your UCAS record will be updated.
You must log in to the Urdang website to provisionally accept or decline your place within 14 days of receiving your offer OR tell us you need more time to consider.
This is in order for us to manage the limited spaces we have on each course. You will also be asked to complete a short medical questionnaire.
If you do not accept or contact us by the deadline you may be placed on a waiting list for a place. We will be in touch later in the year should a suitable place become available.
You must accept or decline your place on UCAS or select us as your insurance place. Please note you will not be able to do so until all your other results have been announced or you have withdrawn them.
Once you have accepted your place on UCAS the university will email you details of how to apply for accommodation.
Conditional offers will become unconditional once the required grades are achieved.
Auditions run from late October and once you have made an application you will be offered the next available date and at least one alternative date where possible.
Audition slots are filling up very fast at present, so you must confirm your chosen date online immediately to guarantee a place.
